Social Media.. Funnel it to One Page? – About.me

Now.. Doing what I’m going to say here isn’t a necessity, because really.. If you don’t have a huge following on social media, the more time you spend on it can in a sense hurt you. (Spend a lot of time without much reward). You may find The Hindrance of Social Media interesting..
So Many Social Sites.. Let’s get Right to the Point!
If you are like me, it feels like everyone is a step ahead with how to properly use these social sites. It requires a bit of time and study to use these social sites effectively. Especially with Google+ on the rise in popularity!
So let me ask you a question.
Is it worth being signed up on all these social sites?
My answer to this is yes. It is important because if someone searches your producer name into Google, you’re that much more likely to be ranked near the top. This is because these social sites are probably a lot more popular than your own personal website, so there is a benefit to signing up to them.
Looking After and Maintaining Multiple Social Accounts?
With the benefit of hopefully ranking higher in Google searches, and allowing others to find you easier, it could also make one feel overwhelmed thinking..
Do I need to maintain, and be active on all these social sites?
My answer would be no. However, it would be nice to sign up, and leave a comment saying, “You can find me here, where I am most active!”.
With all the info absorbed, this leads me to the climax of this post.
Using an About.me Page
If you’ve read my How to Stand Out in this Social Frenzy, you were introduced to what an About.me page is.
Think of an About.me page as a funnel page. It’s a landing page for your visitors, allowing them to keep up to date with you, or find out more info about you, with the ways you have provided. It’s simply that simple.
The creators of About.me have done a really good job at making your page very easy to create, and look VERY NICE. This now allows your users to see all your websites, social sites, and bio all in one place.
If you like to keep things simple, you could now use this About.me page to promote yourself, rather than filling out all your info on each account/site. There could be pros to cons to this approach; however, it’s simple, and does the job great.
Pro – it’s simple and easy
Con – if About.me ever shuts down, well then you gotta do some backtracking. Probably not going to happen, but something to mention, and keep in mind.
What do you think about this approach, and what approach would you take?? The simple way of an About.me page, or filling out your full info on each social site?
