Did Adam Really Eat the Apple?

Why does the Apple always take the hit? – I love apples!
A Few Interesting Facts First:
- Did you know Eve was the first one to take a bite of the forbidden fruit?
- No where does it say what kind of fruit that was eaten!
- Satan didn’t lie to Adam and Eve, he only deceived them!
- Adam named all the animals – (Gen 2:19-20)
- Eve was created from Adam’s rib! (Gen 2:21-25)
To know what we’re talking about, we have to look over the story/Scripture.
You can read the full story here. (It may give you a better understanding as we go through this blog post!). Or just follow along!
Just to break it down,
In this story, we are on the sixth day of creation! God has already created the earth, the light, waters, seas, plants, trees, animals etc.
Now God created man on the sixth day. He rested on the seventh which is the last day of creation.
So, the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. (Gen 2:1)
Now here is the scripture that we are going to follow:
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
9 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Verse 9 – The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
So this blog post is going to be based around The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil where all this sin started! I’ve heard one time that someone called the forbidden fruit the vagina.. well.. I’d like to see where this person read that 😉 .
Now to continue with the Scripture:
16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt NOT eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Ok, so verse 16,
God says that man can eat of any tree except, Verse 17 — The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
So if they eat of the fruit of The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil they will die. Now what does this mean, “Die”?
Well it means two things:
- They will now physically die, just like you and I, because before we were meant to live for ever.
- They will now die spiritually, which now is everyone who is not born-again. Everyone’s spirit is dead without the Holy Spirit, and to enter Heaven, you must be Born Again. (Let’s see a scripture to provide some evidence!).
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
This is a pretty interesting story as well, it’s about a well known/respected teacher/leader named Nicodemus who asks Jesus what it means to be “Born again”. You can read it here.
Being born again is asking for forgiveness, repenting from your sin, and allowing the Holy Spirit to live within you.
But no where yet have we been told what type of fruit is on The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil!
Moving into the Juicy Part,
Chapter 3, the attack of Satan!
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Satan’s a sneaky guy – Why?
He didn’t lie to Eve, he just deceived her into eating the fruit! (Verse 4-5 above). (Which is the only power Satan has over a child of God, that is lying and trying to deceive you).
Later on we read what God says:
22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
So just to confirm that Satan didn’t lie, God said what Satan just said about “Man knowing good and evil”.
Another interesting thing to mention while we’re on the scripture is:
Eve openly talked to a stranger (the serpent/Satan) about what God said. Rather than being careful with what she repeats, and with what she says, especially to someone she does not know, she got herself into some big trouble! (This is a lesson for us to be careful with who we tell things to, and not just “repeat what others say”).
The Apple always takes the hit of being the fruit that was eaten to cause sin!
Was it an apple that Adam and Eve ate to cause the sins of the world? Maybe.. but it does not say!
Just another white lie about the Bible.
So.. now that sin has entered the world.. how can it leave?
18 Therefore as by the offense of one [Adam] judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [Jesus] the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
So there you have it. Sin came through Adam but has now left through Jesus.
But that does not mean your sin is gone.
What that means is Jesus has made a way for you to have forgiveness of sins. You have to ask for forgiveness personally and repent.
But that’s the Good News!
Jesus has made a way to forgive your sins through His Blood Sacrifice. Hallelujah!
So that concludes this blog post. Just another white lie about the Bible. Stay tuned for the next one 🙂
